Making Money on the Internet for Beginners

2009/03/04 at 12:27 pm (Article)

If you’re interested in making some extra money to pay off creditors or earn enough income to replace your current job or career then the Internet is the place where aspiring entrepreneurs are turning. Unlike traditional businesses, a business on the Internet can be started with virtually no capitol, with the exception of your website expense. You have to have a website if you want to do business on the Internet….

If you don’t have your own product to advertise on your website, there are literally millions of affiliate programs on the Internet who do have products and will pay you commissions to sell their products from your website. You can choose to sell cell phones, or internet services, candles, furniture, or maybe insurance, the field is wide open. The affiliate program you choose will also handle all the money, shipping and correspondence with your customers. All you need to do is to generate the traffic to your new website in order to make the sale.

Often times the affiliate program you join will offer you free websites and that is great, but you will never generate enough free traffic to these affiliate sites to succeed without having your own website. Why you ask? For one, the search engines don’t list affiliate sites and you definitely want to get listed in the search engines, this will be your biggest free traffic source.

One of the best ways to generate free traffic is to get involved in link exchanges. You will basically place a link to another site on your website and they will in turn place a link on their site to yours. Once you have exchanged several hundred links a portion of your link partners traffic will come to your site. The free websites you have been given via your affiliate program will not be able to be edited in anyway, thus link exchanges are not an option.

Link exchanges produce a double bonus also. Not only will you get traffic from your link partners, the search engines will place you higher in their listings when they see lots of links pointing to your site.

The Internet was created to provide information, so if you want to succeed on the Internet and generate lots of free traffic, you are going to have to provide information on your website. Often times we do this by providing free information or articles on our website.

Offering free and useful information will keep your visitors coming back to your website, and the double bonus here is that the search engines love content. The more content your website has will produce better listings in the search engines.

Once you have perfected this process of building a website, getting listed in the search engines and have developed a huge traffic stream to your website, your going to be making sales. It will start out slow and as you build links and content, the traffic will grow and so will your sales.

Affiliate programs can be a great stepping stone to get your foot in the door towards cashing in on the riches that the Internet provides.

As time goes by you will find that you have learned so much and have evolved into an Internet Guru and now it’s time to take it one step farther, and start selling YOURSELF.

Using the knowledge that you have gained, you may want to venture into selling your services to other entrepreneurs just getting started. You could start a consulting business, or you may offer to build websites, or to help your clients get listed in the search engines. You may want to start writing E-Books and selling them. The possibilities are endless.

The Internet is a huge marketplace that is still virtually untapped. Don’t waste another day worrying about how you’re going to pay your creditors or provide for your family in the future. Start an Internet business today and see how your life can be changed for the better.

40 Ways to Make Money on the Internet

2009/03/04 at 12:24 pm (Article)

·         Adbrite – Sell space on your site for text ads

·         Amazon Affiliate Program – Easily create a store or shopping section on your site instead of sending your visitors to Amazon. Amazon handles the shopping cart and fulfillment.

·         Amazon Seller – Sell your stuff on Amazon

·         Associated Content – If you write a story, how-to, rant, etc. you can submit it to them and they will pay you $3-$20 per article if they like it

·         Azoogleads – Another ad program. They do have some decent companies lined up as advertisers. You provide space, they’ll provide an ad.

·         BidVertiser – PPC (pay per click) program with a low $10 payout amount.

·         Build a Niche Store – This is a simple store / website development platform which enables you to create content based sites that generate income through the eBay affiliate programs. Pretty darn simple.

·         Blog – Start a blog and consistently write excellent content. With good ad placement, you may make some money. I detail my process here: Simply Said, How to Blog.

·         Business Opportunities Blog – I am adding this because I am a subscriber to their site and I see ideas everyday that could result in making money. A lot of the ideas pertain to online businesses. If you are an aspiring entrepreneur, it’s a good reference.

·         Cafepress – You provide a design, they’ll toss it on a T-Shirt, Hat, etc. No upfront costs. Get a free online shop and promote your products on your website.

·         Chitika – Their eMiniMalls service has shown great results for many Bloggers and site owners. You choose a keyword and they show relevant products on your site using a pretty unique interface.

·         Clickbank – Quickly becoming my favorite affiliate program. They have thousands of things for you to advertise on your site.

·         ClicknWork – Get paid $5-$150 per hour for basically doing freelance work on a per-assignment basis. You have to pass a pretty tough test to get in.

·         Clicksor – These are the guys that generate contextual ads on sites that show up when you hover over a double-underlined word.

·         Commission Junction – If you have a site, you can join Commission Junction. Once enrolled for free, you can choose companies whose ads are pertinent to your site. Companies have the ultimate say on working with you. There are easily over 1,000 companies to choose from here.

·         CreamAid – For blogs only, advertisers provide you with a topic and you write about it on your site. To do this, you have to install a flash widget into your blog post. The more people you bring into the conversation through the widget, the more you get paid. It’s difficult to explain.

·         eefoof – Think of it as YouTube + Flickr + Music. You add original content and they pay you based on the visitors you attract.

·         Ether – If you are an expert on something, Ether provides a way for people to pay you to talk about it in a one-on-one setting. If you want to charge $250/hr, that’s fine. You have to do all the advertising so you should have a blog or site already established.

·         eBay– Come on, you know what this is. Gather your junk and sell it!

·         eBay Stores – If you have a real store and want to sell your stuff online, this is a decent option to get you started.

·         ELance – Name gives it away. Programmers, Codes, Web Designers, Writers, Editors, can look for freelance opportunities.

·         Feedvertising – This is an arm of Text Link Ads and is currently only good for WordPress 2.0 Users. This does me no good currently, but as you can guess, they place ads in your feed(s).

·         Feedburner / Google – Not only are they the best place to house your feeds, they will also add ads to your feed and website. You get paid per impression and if you implement Google Adsense to your feed, you are paid per click.

·         Google Adsense – Come on, you don’t need an explanation; these ads are all over the place. Google displays relevant ads based on your site’s content

·         Google Adwords – Create simple text ads and choose keywords that determine when they are displayed. This is where the Adsense Content comes from. You do not need a site for this.

· – Get paid to fill jobs. Commissions range from $50-$5,000. It all depends on how tough the job is to fill and how desperate the hiring company is. This is another one that’s tough to explain.

· – Add their job board to your site. They then post jobs based on the geographic location of visitors and the position types you pre-select. I tried it and I they continually report that I sent 0 visitors and I know that’s not right. Nevertheless, I may have an isolated problem so they make the list.

·         InnerSell – If you have a customer that wants to buy something you cannot sell, you can sell the lead here.

·         Jellyfish – This is a shopping site that pays you a percentage of the purchases made by people you refer. They are not part of a wider affiliate program so you do it direct.

·         Jigsaw – It’s a pretty flaky model but if you have a Rolodex full of good contacts, you can sell them here. I can’t make sense of it but it looks like you get $0.10 per profile.

·         KarmaOne – They are basically a recruiting website. If you fill one of their jobs by finding a good candidate, you’ll get paid anywhere from $50-$12,000. It all depends on how desperate the hiring company is.

· – If you have a site, you can join Linkshare. Once enrolled for free, you can choose companies whose ads are pertinent to your site. Companies have the ultimate say on working with you. Like Commission Junction, there are a ton of companies waiting to evaluate your site.

·         Microsoft Adcenter – Bid on keywords and Microsoft places your created ads then they are searched for. This is similar to Google Adwords. You do not need a site for this.

· – Sell your stuff on

·         Pageflakes – This is a company that developed a user-defined Ajax homepage to show feeds, flickr photos, and a ton of other things. Think of it as a replacement for your Google Homepage. Anyway – they’ll pay you $1 per referral that you send over. They are not part of a wider affiliate program so you do it direct. This one is pretty simple.

·         Pay Per Post – I don’t agree with this model entirely but they have advertisers that will pay you to write about their products on your blog.

·         Pheedo – If you have an RSS feed, run it through Pheedo. Like Feedburner, they can include ads into your feed and if you really become large, advertisers will pay a premium for you to show their ads.

· – I’ve never really worked with them but I do have an account. They are similar to Commission Junction and Linkshare however they seem to have lower tiered companies with advertising offers.

·         Shoemoney – This is a blog that can teach you a ton on making money online. I’ve spent hours reading his old stuff.

·         Software Judge – They will pay you up to $50 to review software.

·         Text Link Ads – I have never made a dime here but I know people that have. You can earn by sending advertisers to them or by selling spots on your site. You must have a real site or blog to do this – nothing on a shared domain (i.e. /blogspot).

·         Vibrant Media – Don’t bother unless your site has 500,000 page views of text based content a month. If you have that readership, these are the guys that display bubble box ads to underlined words on your site.

·         West Work At Home Agent – Not entirely online but this is worth a mention because it’s won awards and is very legitimate. If you are an at-home Mom or free-lancer without work, you should check this out.

Yahoo! Merchant Solutions – This is a pretty simple and cheap way to create an online store.

10 Things You Can Do TODAY To Increase Traffic To Your Web Site

2009/03/04 at 12:19 pm (Article)

Are you doing everything you can to increase traffic to your web site? Well, check this list of no-cost/low-cost things you can do RIGHT NOW to find out. Then get started developing your web site traffic so you can sell more products/services — today!

1) Develop a Traffic Attitude Most people are approaching the web passively. They put up a web site. They wait. Nothing happens. They complain. Or even, ridiculously, pull off the web, like it’s the web’s fault that 60 million people didn’t drop by before breakfast. If you want traffic, you’ve got to work for traffic. That means developing the Traffic Attitude. This attitude consists of the following parts: . recognition that the web doesn’t promote itself . determination to master web promotion . decision to find every conceivable means of building your traffic, and . use them all — every single day!!!

2) Post — Daily Did you post today? Yesterday? The day before? Probably not! There’s a problem right there. I’m a 365-day-poster. I post every day whether I feel like it or not (and, believe me, on those cold New England mornings, I most assuredly do NOT feel like it!). Reason? Because . you can get unlimited postings . they’re free . you get a steady stream of prospects . by working with these prospects properly you get a steady stream of qualified prospects and, ultimately, sales. In other words, postings work. The key? . Developing client-centered benefits for your postings. Push BENEFITS, not features. . Making sure that each heading in your posting leads with that benefit. . Also making sure that the body of the posting further develops your main, or subsidiary benefits, while providing all the means necessary for your prospects to connect with you NOW. Postings work because they excite prospects with the value/benefit that you have available… and provide these prospects with everything they need to know to connect with you. On days when you don’t post, you’re thwarting your own traffic. Not smart.

3) List Free Classifieds — Daily There are so many places on the Internet to get free classifieds, it’s staggering. How to find them? Easy. Go to AltaVista or Yahoo or HotBot or any of the other search engines and enter “Free classifieds.” Hundreds of places will come up. Now start reviewing them looking for the right places for what you’re selling. Then list. Set yourself an objective, five a day is good. Use your scrap time. This mindless work; do it when you’re not at your mental peak. Note: free classified ads at most Internet sites expire after a certain amount of time. That’s why you have to keep returning to renew your free ads.

4) Take Advantage of Free Links While you’re looking for free classifieds, you’re also going to find places that provide free links. What’s the difference? Classifieds and space ads provide information enabling the prospect to connect with you. Ordinarily you get to say more, but there’s no point and click connection to your site. On the other hand, with a link, all you’ve got to do is click on the link and the prospect is immediately connected to your site. When you add a link, you’re usually allowed a few words (a dozen or less) to describe it. Think about these words carefully. What you want to post is a BENEFIT, not just a descriptive feature. In other words, what’s the prospect going to get when she visits your site? The better the benefit, the more visitors you’ll get!

 5) Take Advantage of Paid Links Everybody likes the free stuff, but there’s something you should know. Many of the free sites get miniscule traffic, as you can see in an instant from their traffic counters (if they even dare to post one). That’s why you should also use paid links. You want to be associated with high traffic malls and web sites that do extensive on- and off-net advertising. If the company is aggressively advertising its web properties and bringing in traffic, and if they reach the kinds of people you want to reach, why, then, you need a link — even if you have to pay for it. When looking at such companies, ask hard questions about just how they develop their traffic. At Worldprofit, for instance, our traffic-building advertising program is second to none. We aggressively use . full-page and other sized ads in dozens of publications . our quarterly 100,000 circulation Sales & Marketing Success Card Deck and many other card decks . our quarterly 155,000+ Sure-Fire Business Success Catalog . four internationally syndicated columns reaching well over 2 million people monthly, and . a complicated nexus of deals, understandings, and relationships with companies worldwide offering various promotional vehicles. What’s more we advise all our advertisers on how to build their traffic… and you benefit from what they do, too! It’s collectively beneficial. If you did this yourself, it would be prohibitively expensive. By comparison, paying just $199.95 a year for a Worldprofit link enables you to benefit from all this at a fraction of the cost. Be clear that any company asking you to pay for a link does as much for such a low price!

6) Add Your URL To All Marketing Communications It staggers me how many opportunities for web promotion pass every single day without being utilized. Look at your . business cards . card deck cards . space ads . yellow pages ads . brochures . flyers . the envelopes you mail in, etc. Have you got your URL on them… or are you literally throwing away promotional opportunities every time you think you’re “marketing”? If you want traffic, make sure everything you use promotes your URL.

 7) Don’t Just Promote Your URL… Also Promote The Chief Benefit Of Visiting Your Web Site The next time you have a chance, utter your URL to a prospect and see what happens. I already know. You’ll get a quizzical look, maybe worse. Why? Because URLs per se aren’t motivating. That’s why if you’re smart you’ll not only put your URL on all your marketing communications but will also insist on presenting the chief benefit of visiting your site, too. You see, on every single marketing communication you use — I don’t care whether it’s a tee-shirt or a four-color brochure — you need to present the most important client-centered benefit of your site… as well as the means of accessing it, the URL. Thus, include chief benefits like this, . Lose 30 pounds in 30 days! . Make $100,000+ in commodities this year! . Reduce your travel costs everywhere you go! . Benefit from over 1/4 MILLION visitors a month! Get the drift? Lead with benefits… follow with features (the URL address). Both are essential to traffic building.

 8) Develop A Response Template Are you annoyed by unsolicited e-mail? I was, too, until I got smart about it. I figured these people were just a new kind of prospect. Thus, I developed a series of response templates in which I made the benefits of what I was selling very plain. Such a response template should include . an offer . benefits of what you’re selling . product/service descriptions . client-centered testimonials . complete purchase information, and, of course . complete information about your web site! In other words, a response template is the best kind of client-centered marketing communication.

9) Send The Response Template To Every Unsolicited E-Mail You Receive When you wake up in the morning, go through all the unsolicited e-mail you get and instead of just trashing it, send your response template. Just by clicking a button you’ll be getting YOUR information into the hands of new prospects. Sure some of it is going to bounce back to you right away because you may be answering an auto-responder. Not to worry. Marketing is and always will be a numbers game. If you’ve got something the prospect wants, something that’s rich with benefits and offers real value, then that prospect is going to respond… no matter how you heard about him (or how he connected with you) in the first place. This method is more socially responsible than sending the kind of response hate mail that so many people unaccountably find acceptable. And, yes, you will increase your site traffic and make sales — so long as you promote the value of your site and the substance of your offerings in every response template you create.

10) Don’t Slack Off It’s easy to be lazy. Sloth is seductive. But when you stop building traffic, you start cutting the value of your Web site. That’s not my way… and it shouldn’t be yours. Building traffic on the Internet is an exciting, high energy game. With very valuable pay-offs. Which get bigger every day. A recent interview on “Adam Smith” on the Public Broadcasting Network with senior Microsoft officials show-cased the Chief Technologist of Gates’ galloping giant predicting that within 5 years (at the most~!) traffic on the Internet would be 100 TIMES what it is today! Indeed, he went further, to say that the growth of the Internet was being “undervalued” by industry experts. What does this mean? A traffic, and by extension, a sales bonanza for you… if, and only if, you’ll do what’s necessary to make sure that a growing percentage of this burgeoning traffic gets to you and your web site.

Increase Website Traffic for FREE

2009/03/04 at 10:11 am (Article)

There are many techniques to getting more visitors to your website or blog. Here are a few of the better ways of getting more visitors to your website. Oh, and they’re all free and you should be able to implement most in just a few minutes.

Firstly, some things to keep in mind as you read these tips and tricks for getting more, free, website visitors…

  • Google looks at your website and tries to think how a human would think. If a real person would rate your website highly, then so will Google.
  • Google reads the words on your website.Phrases that you want to get found with should at least appear somewhere on your website.
  • A real person would rank more highly a website with lots of links to it. If lots of other people link to the site then it must be popular.Google ‘thinks’ in exactly the same way using a technique called Page Rank or PR. More on this later.
  • Content that changes is more interesting for repeat visitors, and Google rates more highly websites that change frequently for this exact reason.

OK, with these key ideas in mind, lets move on to sending more people to your website. Who knows, the increase in website traffic may increase inquiries, orders and profit!

Change your writing style

As an example, take the last sentence from the previous paragraph. It used to read like this…

OK, with these key ideas in mind, lets move on…

This sentence would be OK in the real world, but it contains no words of any importance or relevance to our topic. The sentence was edited to contain pertinent words relating to increasing website traffic and now reads like this…

OK, with these key ideas in mind, lets move on to sending more people to your website.
Who knows, the increase in website traffic may increase inquiries, orders and profit!

Look at every sentence on your website. Does it stand up on its own? Cut out the clutter and add key words and phrases. If you sell cars, avoid impotent phrases like “Customer Service to Rely On” and use phrases such as “Discount Car Dealership, Midlands UK”. Potential visitors searching on Google won’t be searching for “customer service”, but they will be searching for “car dealership, midlands”.

Another small tip relating to your writing style is to use all derivatives of words. Take for example the car dealership. Visitors searching Google might type “dealership” or they might type “dealer”. Try to use both in your text to appear in as many search results as possible.

Get Inbound Links

Links to your website from others offer two great benefits.

  • Visitors to the other sites might see the link to your site and pay your site a visit.
  • Your website Page Rank will be increased as your site now looks more popular.

How can Ebay help increase traffic to your website? Ebay is a very popular website and links from it to your own website will make your site look more popular. By ensuring that you always have auctions on the go at Ebay, you will always have links to your own website. It doesn’t matter what you are selling as long as you remember to add links to your own website from each auction.

It’s not relevant to all websites, but why not give your website a mention and a link in Wikipedia. Most pages in Wikipedia have links to external sites, so why not add yours! If you are blatantly spamming then be prepared to be removed straight away, so make sure your website is related to the topic in question.

Home Page

Re-write a portion of your home page every month. Adding news items is a great way to force you to do this and gives you a reason to change the page monthly. And don’t forget, a website with out of date news items looks as though the company has gone bust, so once you start this technique for generating website traffic it is most definitely an on-going process.

  • Re-write your website content or get somebody to do this for you. Include good words and phrases and cut out the dross!
  • Get links to your site from other sites
  • Get some auctions underway on Ebay
  • See if any pages in Wikipedia or similar will handle a link to your site
